Two Roland kits can share some of the same technology and still feel very different to play. If you have the chance to try them, pay particular attention to the snare, hi-hat, ride and kick, as these are some of the areas where the differences between configurations are most noticeable.
It is also worth checking the height and spacing of the pads, the overall footprint of the kit and how easily you can adjust the setup to suit your playing position. If you come from an acoustic drum kit, a Roland VAD may feel particularly familiar thanks to its shells and dimensions. If noise is your main concern, it is worth exploring V-Drums Quiet Design.
