During the development of the V71 module for the V-Drums 7 series, Roland created a completely new integrated sound library in collaboration with Drum Workshop (DW) that brings an unparalleled level of realism and creative control to V-Drums. The V51 module features the same internal generator as the V71, providing you with an identical combination of sounds and expansion paths in a simplified interface. These ready-to-record sounds have been designed from a careful selection of the best drum kits in the world, offering the detail, punch, and sound quality of the most expensive computer collections.

New sounds on demand

Just like with the V71, you can freely change the sound set of the V51 module to always sound current. Open the Roland Cloud Connect app on your mobile device to access a growing range of V-Drums Instrument Expansions via your wireless network. Then, search for the sounds you want, download them directly to the module, and start playing.

Choose your perspective

Drum sounds exist in two different universes. One is the intimate and close sound of the drums when you play them. The other is the produced sound you hear in recordings and live concerts, which is often processed with equalizers, compressors, and ambient effects. Some Drums Instrument Expansions have been mixed specifically for both profiles, the drummer and the producer, allowing you to create the musical experience you seek with just the push of a button.

Computer-based drumming

All kits from the V-Drums 5 series can trigger DW Soundworks sounds,* a revolutionary software instrument that runs as a standalone computer application or a DAW plug-in. Many DW Soundworks expansions replicate V-Drums Instrument Expansions, allowing you to switch to software drumming while maintaining the exact sound and response of the module.

Expand your world

In Roland Cloud, you have fresh ideas for drumming for a lifetime. The V-Drums Instrument Expansions add new kits to the module, recorded with the same detailed process as the main library. You can activate up to six expansions at once and combine kick drums, snares, cymbals, and other kit components from different kits. We also offer V-Drums Kit Packs created by top musicians and producers, which include many titles to faithfully recreate the kits used in the most influential songs of all time.

To add a personal touch, press the EZ Edit button to instantly change kick and snare sounds, adjust tone and damping, balance drum and cymbal levels, and more. And if you want to go even further, dive deep into the module's advanced editing tools or use V51 Editor on your Mac or Windows computer.

Your personal drum teacher

One of the most appreciated features of V-Drums is the built-in coach mode, which offers a ton of fun tools to develop your technique and play like clockwork. You have an advanced metronome, as well as classics like Time Check and Quiet Count, along with new features like Phrase Trainer for rhythm practice, Stroke Monitor for stick control, and Blast Beat for working on precision and endurance. The V-Drums 5 kits also include Drum Pass, an exclusive Roland package of 100 interactive lessons from Melodics™ created specifically for V-Drums performers.

Wireless freedom

The V51 includes a Roland wireless adapter that links to your network, allowing you to listen to and download sound content directly through the Roland Cloud Connect app on a mobile device. You can update the module wirelessly to keep the system software up to date in the easiest way. You also have Bluetooth audio/MIDI for jamming with songs from your mobile, playing along with video lessons, and more.

Multi-channel Audio and MIDI

Use the integrated USB audio/MIDI interface in the module for communication with DW Soundworks, V51 Editor, and other music software. And if you want to explore music production with a computer, you can capture up to 30 channels of audio in a DAW through a single cable.

The flagship 14-inch snare pads PD-14DSX (VAD516) and PD-140DS (TD516) take electronic performance to new heights with our innovative digital detection technology. The subtlest articulations translate into astonishing detail, and hand positions are automatically detected, allowing for seamless transitions between head hits, rimshots, and cross-stick techniques. Inspired by the best Roland pads, the new 12-inch PD-12P snare from the TD513 offers enhanced stick response and feel with chrome hoops, a rubber rim, and three piezoelectric sensors for precise analog triggering.
