The alloy

Known as Zildjian Secret Alloy, this B20 alloy consists of 80% copper and 20% tin. This B20 alloy can be challenging to work with, as it requires extensive reworking and annealing due to its naturally fragile state, but Zildjian has used it for over 400 years.
Like all Zildjian cast bronze cymbals, they are individually poured and molded from raw molten metal. Each casting is cooled and sorted by weight for each cymbal model. Then, the cast pieces undergo a complex sequence of heating, rolling, shaping, hammering, and lathing techniques unique to each cymbal model. These cast bronze cymbals produce a rich, full-bodied sound that improves over time. They also offer greater projection, clarity, and durability than any other cymbals.
