The hoops not only affect the tuning of the tom, they also affect the sound. For this reason, the choice of hoops has been very important for Tama's designers. They have chosen die-cast hoops that are manufactured by injecting molten metal into molds. The cast hoops have more density and a more consistent shape than “normal” hoops which are made by bending metal plates. The die-cast hoops make tuning more consistent and easy to achieve because the tension screws always make proper contact with the hoop.
