As simple to use as it seems, just hold it by its string and move it gently. Wonderful and magical harmonies will leave you amazed.
With its relaxing and harmonizing sound, these chimes have become over the years a wonderful tool for relaxation, yoga, meditation, Feng Shui, sound sessions, and other forms of therapy.
The size of these instruments makes them easy to handle and play. But also, hanging from a door or an open window, a light breeze can surprise you with unexpected melodies.
Each instrument features 8 metal rods of varying lengths that have been silver-soldered to an internal metal ring. Once assembled, these rods are carefully retuned to achieve the interaction of tones and harmonics in a continuous flow of harmonies. The proportions of the resonator tube follow Da Vinci’s 'golden ratio' principles, ensuring optimal sound and resonance.
Outdoor Use
Although the internal and external parts of the chime have been protected with an eco-friendly varnish and paint layer, like many objects left outside, regular maintenance with varnish or oil will help protect it. Still, it cannot prevent the negative effects of weather conditions on the chime. When hung outdoors but sheltered under an eave or another slightly protected spot, the chime will sound and continue playing its magical melodies for many years.
Materials
Most of the materials used are eco-friendly and recyclable, sourced to EEG standards. The wooden parts are coated with wax. The thin crushed and pressed layers of long-fiber celluloid board provide the perfect acoustic qualities to achieve the warm timbre and crystalline sounds for which Zaphir chimes are so well known. The vast majority of materials used are natural, recyclable, and meet EEG standards. The protective varnish and paint layers on the resonator tube are eco-friendly.
About Zaphir
Shanti created Koshi by Kabir and Zaphir with the original design by Shanti of Shunyam. From the start, Atelier Zaphir has been a venture of two women: Shunyam Maeijer and Nathalie Kremser, who together recreated the tunings and concept of Zaphir.
Following Shunyam’s wish to retire, the entire Zaphir team took over and continued the work with Nathalie Kremser at the helm. The staff who have been there all these years remain to continue the journey of this magical wind chime.
NOTE:
Children love the crystalline sound of Zaphir chimes; however, the instrument is not recommended for children under 4/5 years old.
