The alloy
CuSn8 - 92% copper, 8% tin
The Giant Beats are manufactured with the famous bronze alloy CuSn8 of Paiste, best known as bronze of 2002. Paiste had been experimenting with the alloy since the early 1960s, but the Giant Beats were the first cymbals marketed with this alloy.
By the end of 1950 the amplified music required the use of a new alloy because the new styles produced much more volume. In 1963, Paiste showed that 8% of bronze was ideal for these requirements and has used this alloy for decades in many of its cymbals high-end.
