Construction
HCS cymbals are made from a brass alloy called MS63 (MS = Mint State, 63 = copper percentage). Most major manufacturers use this formula for their entry-level cymbals because it’s easy to work with and relatively affordable.

Instead of casting, each cymbal is formed from a brass sheet that is pressed into the desired shape, then lathed and hammered on the top surface before finally polishing the cymbal.
