Gretsch was founded in Brooklyn in 1833 and has been the choice of millions of drummers worldwide ever since. As a tribute to its origins and to recreate the sound of drums from decades ago, Gretsch has decided to produce these gems at its United States factory by a small team of veteran craftsmen from the brand. These drums feature the signature silver sealing characteristic of the high-end models and many of the same specifications as the famous USA Custom.

The shells
The shells of the Brooklyn series are a hybrid of six plies of premium North American maple and poplar, with the distinctive 30º bearing edge that Gretsch is known for. Naturally, as with all high-end lines, the interiors of the shells are sealed with the classic Gretsch Silver Sealer.

Hoops
The Gretsch 302 are 3mm thick metal hoops with a double flange. Their design is inspired by the classic Gretsch hoops from the early 1950s Brooklyn and Broadkaster series. These hoops offer a sound similar to die-cast hoops but are lighter and less rigid, allowing the drum to "breathe" better and achieve maximum resonance.
The new straight edge is thicker and, as a result, won’t damage your drumsticks like the older models did. This hoop provides a more open sound compared to the traditionally drier Gretsch tone.
The 302 hoops deliver a slightly more open and ambient sound than Gretsch’s die-cast hoops.
