But there's much more.... Read below everything that the new Catalina Evo offers
The Gretsch Catalina EVO brings the brand's identity to an electronic drum kit. The presence of the shells, the aesthetic appearance, and the immense possibilities of digital sound combine in a set for drummers who want to study, create, and take their music to different environments.
The novelty of Catalina EVO lies precisely in that union: the experience of sitting behind a Gretsch with the flexibility of an electronic drum kit. A particularly attractive combination for those who alternate between acoustic and electronic instruments and value maintaining a recognizable setup while playing.
Real Shells and Mesh Heads

The full-size shells of the Catalina allow you to organize the kit with a layout similar to that of an acoustic set. This feature makes it easier to work with familiar spatial references and retains the visual presence of a traditional drum kit.
The range is offered in four and five-piece configurations and in Black Sparkle and Walnut Glaze finishes. This allows you to choose both the layout and the aesthetic that best fits your space and playing style. The Catalina Evo features the new Gretsch Dynamic Mesh heads, designed to provide a response and rebound as close to that of an acoustic drum as possible, with a very low noise level.
The bottom of the shells uses single-layer mesh heads, completing the appearance of a real drum kit. The result is that you see an acoustic drum from any angle, an important detail for stages, classrooms, and video recording spaces.
Catalina EVO Module: Gretsch Sounds and Customization

The module offers over 500 instruments, 50 factory kits, and 128 customizable memories. Its sounds use dynamic layering, round-robin alternating samples, and ambient recordings to add variation and depth to the performance.
You can import WAV files into 128 positions and use compression, parametric equalization, reverb, and multi-effects to customize your settings.
For live performance, the individual outputs allow you to organize separate signals to a mixer. In the studio, the multichannel audio makes it easy to continue the mixing on the computer. The 2.7" OLED screen provides access to the module's functions.
The module offers:
Main L/Mono and R outputs.
Four individual outputs with flexible assignment.
6.35 and 3.5 mm headphone connections.
Stereo Mix In input.
Bluetooth Audio and MIDI.
- USB-C for audio and MIDI.
- Direct WAV recording to USB memory.
Pads and Cymbals

The snare and tom pads feature dual-zone detection on the head and the rim. This allows for differentiated articulations.
The bass drum incorporates an excellent trigger system with two sensors. Snare, toms, bass drum, and cymbals thus form an electronic set that provides the feel of an acoustic kit.
The Catalina Evo features a 14" hi-hat, 16" crash, and 18" ride. All include three-zone detection and allow you to play around their entire surface, offering freedom to position the cymbals according to your playing style or needs.
The hi-hat uses top and bottom cymbals like a conventional hi-hat and a specific controller to reproduce the openings, closing, and foot operation. It mounts on a conventional stand.
Gretsch E-Drum Remote App: Editing, Practice, and Repertoire Organization

The Gretsch E-Drum Remote app expands control of the instrument from a connected device. It allows you to edit kits, select instruments, and customize the sound, as well as set up access to the functions you use most.
Its training tools help give a specific goal to each session:
More is More: focuses on the number of hits executed in a minute.
Just in Time: is aimed at developing rhythmic precision.
Pyramid: allows you to practice with progressive tempo increments.
The On Stage mode allows you to organize repertoires and associate each song with a kit, a metronome setting, a PDF document, or a backing track. This makes it easier to prepare the necessary resources for a rehearsal or performance.
The app also checks the availability of new firmware versions and allows you to initiate installation wirelessly.Included Gretsch Explorer Hardware
Catalina EVO includes a package of Gretsch Explorer hardware that allows you to set up the instrument with independent stands:
- Two cymbal stands with GRG2CB boom.
- One GRG2HH hi-hat stand.
- One GRG2SS snare stand.
- One GRG2BP single bass drum pedal.
Who do we recommend Gretsch Catalina EVO for?
At Tam Tam Percussion, the Catalina Evo is particularly interesting for drummers accustomed to an acoustic drum kit who are looking to incorporate an electronic instrument into their musical life. It also offers many useful resources for teachers, students, and musicians who need to prepare repertoires, record ideas, or integrate the drum kit with a computer.
Of course, it is also for percussionists and drummers who value the presence of the instrument but with professional digital possibilities.
