A revolution for home playing
Roland V-Drums are already among the quietest electronic drum kits on the market, thanks to years of research and development, precision engineering, and the ability to monitor through headphones. Still, sometimes even standard V-Drums can sound too loud. The physical noise from hitting the pads can disturb those around you. Additionally, the bass and hi-hat pedals transfer thuds and vibrations to the floor, which resonate through the structure and generate audible noise in other rooms.
Roland introduces V-Drums Quiet Design. While they may look like normal V-Drums, all their components incorporate significant innovations specifically aimed at minimizing noise. Thanks to meticulous engineering, the pads and hardware substantially reduce collateral volume, while sound-absorbing materials isolate all kinetic energy from the drum kit to prevent its escape into surrounding spaces.
Quiet design
Achieving even quieter V-Drums has required thorough research into sound transmission and manufacturing materials, as well as the development of new techniques to overcome the problem of percussive noise. Extensive testing in special facilities has revealed that the V-Drums Quiet Design VQD106 kit reduces noise by an impressive 75 percent compared to a conventional V-Drums kit. The bass drum and hi-hat are incredibly smooth and quiet, and stick hits on the pads produce sound levels similar to a normal conversation.
Ultra-sensitive pads
Despite their advanced sound isolation features, the VQD106 snare and toms offer the feel of a high-end V-Drums pad and natural rebound. The PDQ-8S and PDQ-8 pads include a noise-reducing rubber insert covered with a mesh head. Special holes on the underside of the playing surface allow air pressure to dissipate, further reducing noise. The PDQ-8S snare pad provides independent sounds for head and rim, and features a soft rubber cover on the rim to mute those hits.
Articulated cymbal pads with natural movement
The VQD106 kit includes three versatile CYQ-12 cymbal pads with rubber foam, mesh cover, and holes similar to the snare and tom pads. Additionally, the plastic components are isolated with rubber materials to eliminate vibrations. In crash and ride positions, the CYQ-12 provides independent sounds for bow and edge, natural swing, and the ability to choke the cymbal. In the hi-hat position, the pad works with the FD-9 control pedal to produce an accurate and ultra-quiet response.
Bass drum pad and beater
The KDQ-8 bass drum pad gives you that satisfying “thump” that all drummers love, but with the sound well contained in your headphones. The 8” playing surface accommodates both single and double pedals and includes a dense triple-layer pad covered with a double-sided mesh. This element is housed in a floating structure to reduce acoustic and vibrational transfer. Four rubber bases provide stability and enhance isolation, while the included silent KDB-Q beater features a round head that minimizes contact noise when hitting the playing surface.
Pedal supports and bases with isolation
The V-Drums Quiet Design experience is completed with the pedal supports and bases. These innovative pieces prevent other clicks, thuds, and vibrations from propagating to the floor and other rooms in your home. On the support, special hemispherical rubber bases isolate the noise from the pad, while the NEQ-K and NEQ-H bases for the bass and hi-hat pedals have a custom design that contains noise when stepping hard. The bases have been specifically developed for the V-Drums Quiet Design series based on the popular NE-10 Noise Eater product.
TD-07 sound module
The TD-07 is a versatile module with excellent acoustic and electronic drum sounds recorded in professional studios and processed with advanced V-Drums technology. Change drums, adjust tuning, add damping, and use EQ to customize each sound to your liking. Stream audio via Bluetooth from smartphones and tablets directly through the module for playing or practicing with video lessons. And take advantage of the USB connection to record stereo audio and MIDI in a DAW, trigger computer instruments, and integrate the system with Melodics™ educational software and its free interactive lessons for V-Drums users.
