The shells
The 100% maple 7-ply shells at 7.2 mm with the new SONICLEAR™ edge cut allow for direct sound transmission, reduce unwanted frequencies, and provide a strong fundamental tone, especially in lower tunings.
SONICLEAR Edges
Place a head on one of your current toms. Do you see the wobble? This is proof that the edges of the shell are robbing the tone and the tuning ability. Mapex's SONICLEAR edges are so precise that you can hand-tighten the head and it will still produce a pure tone. This expands the tuning range for drummers who prefer deeper lows.
