The shells
The shells made of birch 10% in 6 layers of 7.2 mm with the new SONIClear ™ edge cut allows for direct sound transmission, reduces unwanted frequencies, and provides a strong fundamental tone, especially in lower tunings.
SONIClear Edges
Place a head on one of your current toms. Do you see the wobble? This is proof that the edges are robbing the tone and tuning capability. Mapex's SONIClear edges are so perfect that you can hand-tighten the head and it will still produce a pure tone. This expands the tuning range for drummers who prefer deeper lows.
