The Shells
The Starclassic Walnut Birch uses a hybrid shell combining birch and walnut, achieving a deep tone that features the sharp attack of birch and the characteristic warmth of walnut.

Quick-Lock Tom Brackets
The "Quick-Lock" tom brackets equipped with the Star-Cast mounting system feature some very distinctive and innovative characteristics.
First, these brackets allow for fast and easy setup. But the real unique feature is that once the tom is mounted on a tom bracket or floor tom legs, there’s no need to install memory locks separately to preserve your positioning. Simply sliding the switch on the tom bracket splits it into two parts. When you remove the tom, the "memory lock" part remains on the bracket.

These Quick-Lock tom brackets also offer hidden acoustic benefits. They use rubber coatings to further isolate the toms and enhance resonance.

Star-Cast Mounting System
The Star-Cast mounting system always delivers maximum resonance and stability for Tama’s professional toms. Its aerodynamic design makes it easier to position toms closer together for greater comfort. Additionally, an aluminum lever provides lighter weight and more natural tonal vibration.

Die-Cast Hoops
Hoops not only affect a tom’s tuning but also its sound. For this reason, hoop selection was very important to Tama’s designers. They chose zinc die-cast hoops, manufactured by injecting molten metal into molds. Die-cast hoops have greater density and a more consistent shape than “regular” hoops made by bending metal strips. Die-cast hoops make tuning more consistent and easier to achieve because the tension rods always make proper contact with the hoop. Toms equipped with these hoops deliver a sharper attack, clear and resonant highs, and more powerful rimshots.

Floor Tom Rubber Feet
Starclassic’s Air Pocket™ rubber feet feature a special air chamber that eliminates vibration transfer to the floor (which can choke the sound) and absorbs shock for better playability.
In addition to all this, the Tama Walnut Birch comes with Evans heads, cast claws on the bass drum, and incredible bass drum legs.
