The birch and maple 6-ply shell and 7.2mm with the new SONIClear axis allows for direct sound transmission, reduces unwanted frequencies, provides a strong fundamental tone, and effortless tuning, especially at lower tunings.
The SONIClear tom suspension and the legs of the floor tom enhance overall resonance by maintaining the vibration in the shell.

The shells
Acutely, the hand-selected maple core of each shell produces a sound we are already familiar with, a resonant and projecting sound, and the inner and outer layers of birch provide the necessary attack for an equalized sound, drying up the harmonics and providing sound localization. The SONIClear edges from Mapex make it easy to seat the heads, providing a wide range of tuning and pure, deep lows.

Place a head on one of your current toms. Do you see the wobble? This is proof that the edges of the axis are robbing it of tone and tuning ability. Mapex's SONIClear edges are so perfect that you can hand-tighten the head and it will still produce a pure tone. This expands the range of tuning for drummers who prefer deeper lows.
