The shells
Yamaha has been a pioneer in the use of oak for the construction drums Yamaha and this model has a wide dynamic range accentuating their attack and projection.
The shells Live Custom Hybrid Oak have many the specifications of the PHX and Absolute Hybrid Maple models and presents a layer of phenolic between two layers of oak.
Uzukuri finish
This is a traditional Japanese finishing technique and that Yamaha has modified for use in shells of drum. With this procedure, the soft parts in grain the wood is sanded and then the whole Shell is coated with a thin layer of black paint. After all the surface Shell is sanded again before applying the final finish, with which it is possible to enhance even more the natural beauty of oak.
Weight reinforcement in the bass drum
With a design around the lugs Absolute, the bass drum of the Live Custom Hybrid Oak has some weights inserted into the bass drum in points the lugs to hold the low and medium frequencies and provide a sound of bass drum tight and focused.

- The hoops thicker steel provides a more closed sound and a sharper response.
- The toms and floor toms are equipped with heads Remo Emperor transparent, they are known for their deep sound and great durability.
