Lug round for a better definition. Yeah the 5A is light and the 5B heavy, these may be yours drumsticks. A model that does not add much more weight than the 5A but that gets a lot of the power.
The wood
The Hickory (American Walnut) is the wood most used in the manufacture drumsticks by the great resistance to bear blows. The Hickory is more dense than the maple (about 10%) and less than the Japanese oak (about 10% too). The density and the natural sensation of this wood makes it the preferred by a vast majority of drummers.
