Over the years and in collaboration with some of the best artists in the world, Vic Firth has made thousands of prototypes for them. The series Modern Jazz has been in his closets for years and although the name says "Modern Jazz", they are truly exceptional for almost any musical style.

The drumsticks 5B are indicated for those who need a little more weight or thickness and are after the 5A the more used. They have a standard length of 16” (40 cm) and 0.595 in diameter.
The wood
Rock Maple (arce) is a very used wood when needed thickness no extra weight. It is somewhat less dense than the Hickory (American walnut), about 10% and about 20% on the Japanese oak. Provides great articulation both in heads as in the cymbals. Perfect for orchestral or jazzy uses that want drumstick thick without added weight.
