The lug

The 5B drumsticks are meant for those who need a bit more weight or thickness and are, after the 5A, the most widely used. They have a standard length of 16” (40 cm) and a diameter of 0.595”.
The wood: Hickory
American hickory is without doubt the most widely used wood in drumstick manufacturing and the favourite of the vast majority of drummers, thanks to its durability, weight and flexibility. Hickory is denser than maple (by around 10%) and slightly less dense than Japanese oak (also by around 10%). The density and natural feel of this wood make it the preferred choice for the overwhelming majority of drummers.
