The alloy
This B20 alloy is composed of 80% copper and 20% tin and is the “star” alloy in professional cymbal construction. The B20 alloy can be difficult to work with, as it requires extensive reworking and annealing due to its naturally fragile state, but in Turkey it has been used for centuries. Like all Amedia cast bronze cymbals, they are individually poured and molded from raw molten metal. Each casting is cooled and sorted by weight for each cymbal model. Then, the cast pieces undergo a complex sequence of unique heating, rolling, shaping, hammering, and lathe-turning techniques specific to each cymbal model. These cast bronze cymbals have a rich, full-bodied sound that improves over time. They also offer greater projection, clarity, and durability than any other cymbal.
