Description

Featuring a brilliant finish and innovative hammering techniques, these cymbals deliver the classic A Zildjian sound with a contemporary twist. The A Custom cymbals are neither too dark nor too bright, offering a quick response and a clean attack.
A sophisticated expression of the classic Avedis Zildjian tones. They are lighter in weight and feature radically innovative hammering. Developed in collaboration with drumming icon Vinnie Colaiuta in 1992, this series uses fine groove hammering to bring the classic Zildjian sound to today’s music. This series is specially designed and crafted for modern music. Impressively versatile.

The alloy

Known as Zildjian Secret Alloy, this B20 alloy consists of 80% copper and 20% tin. This B20 alloy can be challenging to work with, requiring extensive reworking and annealing due to its naturally fragile state, but Zildjian has been using it for over 400 years.
Like all Zildjian cast bronze cymbals, they are individually poured and molded from raw molten metal. Each casting is cooled and sorted by weight for each cymbal model. Then, the cast pieces undergo a complex sequence of unique heating, rolling, shaping, hammering, and lathe-turning techniques specific to each cymbal model. These cast bronze cymbals produce a rich, full-bodied sound that improves with age. They also offer greater projection, clarity, and durability than any other cymbal.

Their cymbals are featured in the world's most important tours, from jazz to metal, as well as in the best orchestras globally and, of course, in thousands of iconic recordings.

Zildjian's recommendations for caring for the cymbals in this series:

This cymbal has been handcrafted in the United States and utilizes special processes that give this cymbal its unique character and appearance. Color variations are a normal part of this cymbal.
Avedis cymbals undergo a unique aging process that enhances their tone and character.
Do not clean this cymbal using cleaners or any other types of cleaning products.
Do not expose it directly to sunlight for extended periods or to high temperatures.
Do not label or place anything on top of the patina.
All of this can alter the finish of the cymbal.
