Due to the manufacturing process of Contemporânea drumheads, in most cases, the hoop joint is not completely sealed.
Also, the drumhead may show slight wrinkles around the edge that disappear once the drumhead is mounted on the instrument and tensioned.
These characteristics do not affect the sound or durability of the drumhead and therefore cannot be considered a defect.
About Contemporânea
Contemporânea has been synonymous with Brazilian percussion since 1946. Founded in São Paulo by the visionary Miguel Fasanelli, the brand became a reference for samba drum kits, blocos, and all kinds of carnival ensembles. Their instruments combine tradition with industrial precision: aluminum shells and selected woods, hardware designed for high tension, and “Light” series made for street playing without fatigue. For pandeiros, they focus on lightweight solutions: superlight flat-profile hoops, frames with formica laminate, hammered brass jingles, and 6 tension rods for quick tuning; natural skin, nylon, or napa options shape each model’s character. The lineup includes surdos, repeniques, caixas, tamborins, cuicas, timpanis, and rebolos, all manufactured in Brazil. It’s no coincidence that artists like Gabriel Policarpo have their own signature models and that names such as Monobloco, Demônios da Garoa, Sorriso Maroto, and Claudia Leitte choose their sounds. Contemporânea: the authentic pulse of Brazil, ready to elevate your groove.
