The shells
The shells constructed from 6-ply birch are one of the favorite configurations at Tam Tam Percussion due to their combination of attack and warmth in the low frequencies. The 30° bearing edges provide a quick response, are easy to tune, and enhance the characteristics of the heads.

The Recording shells have remained true throughout their history. Trends come and go, but the Recording Custom with its birch shells and immaculate interior and exterior finish has had a sound that seems "pre-equalized" right out of the factory, perfect for studio or live mic applications.

High-quality hardware
Gadd and Yamaha ensured that only the best Yamaha hardware was used in this series. Each piece was selected to provide the drum with stability, ease of use, and perfect tone. The new High Tension lugs are constructed with greater weight to help dampen unwanted noise. The YESS system connects to the shell with minimal contact, allowing the toms to vibrate freely, and this system never interferes when placing the toms on the bass drum or if you want to change the head without removing it from its position.
